Welcome to Year 5

As the children enter Year 5, they are moving into the upper school and hence taking on more responsibility and becoming increasingly independent in all aspects of school life.

Throughout the year, the children learn about a wide variety of topics and enjoy a variety of learning experiences. 

In Science, the children learn about Growing Up and Growing Old, Forces, Earth and Space, Living Things, Properties and Changes of Materials. To enhance the children’s learning we complete exciting investigations wherever possible.

As part of our learning in Geography, we study Brazil and its rainforest, a unit the children thoroughly enjoy and get the opportunity to take on their own research project.

We use our creative side when completing out Art and Design Unit, completing a study of the formal elements of Art to develop our technique even further.

The highlight of the year is, without doubt, the residential journey in May, during which your child will increase their independence, self-confidence, sense of responsibility and teamwork skills.
