Local Community Links

We have developed many links within our local community - this gives our children the opporunity to represent the school in our local area, and to have a positive impact on their local community.

Here are some examples of our local community links:

Poplars Care Home

We link with a local residential home, Poplars Care Home in Ruislip, where the children can connect with and support a different generation.

An example of our links are when all of the children either drew a picture, wrote a card or letter to establish contacts with the residents and they used these messages to decorate the communal lounge in the care home for Easter - here are a few photos of the residents receiving them:

In addition to this, our choir visit the care home around Christmas time to sing some festive songs for the residents.

Community Choir Event

The choir also hosted a community event where they shared their favourite songs with parents, carers, and members of our local community. Invitations to members of the local community were posted by some willing choir volunteers and it was lovely to meet some of the local residents.

Visits to Pizza Express

To link with their D&T topic, our Year 5 children visit Pizza Express in Ruislip High Street to learn about nutrition and food hygiene.

Haydon School's Big Fun Day

Haydon School is one of our main feeder schools. They invited our Year 5 children to attend their 'Big Fun Day' in July 2024 to support their transition to secondary school next year.

Visit from David Simmonds MP

As part of British Values Day, the children were fortunate enough to meet their local MP, David SImmonds. The children enjoyed an assembly about the Houses of Parliament and had some interesting questions for Mr Simmonds.

Competitions with Local Schools

Whilst we have a busy sporting fixture calendar, we also enjoy participating in other competitions against local schools. Last year, we took part in: a maths challenge, a spelling bee and the London Boroughs of Hillingdon and Ealing Chess Competition.
