Mental Health and well-being

Our Goal

At Whiteheath our intention is to promote positive mental health and to encourage all children to recognise and discuss their feelings and emotions in a trusted environment. We aim to incorporate mental health awareness into the curriculum and encourage children (through lessons, workshops and outside speakers) to explore ways in which to improve their own mental health.

Mental Health and well-being is prioritised.  We map out where safeguarding, mental health and well-being themes are covered within our curriculum.

Each year, we mark Children's Mental Health Awareness Week by having a themed day in school. We also discuss mental health, and themes surrounding mental health, in our assemblies, whole class PSHE teaching and special workshops, such as the 'Life Base.'  We also raise awareness of the Young Minds charity and raise funds to help them in their vital work.

As a school, we are fortunate to have a Pastoral Lead (who works at school Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) who is able to offer children 1:1 or group support as needed to support their mental health and well being.
