Mental Health and Wellbeing

Our Goal

At Whiteheath our intention is to promote positive mental health and to encourage all children to recognise and discuss their feelings and emotions in a trusted environment. We aim to incorporate mental health awareness into the curriculum and encourage children (through lessons, workshops and outside speakers) to explore ways in which to improve their own mental health.

Emphasis is placed on introducing children to ways in which their mental wellbeing can be enhanced, such as mindfulness and meditation. These life skills are incorporated into the curriculum to ensure all children are able to access them, regardless of difference.

Each year, we mark Children's Mental Health Awareness Week by having a themed day in school. We also discuss mental health, and themes surrounding mental health, in our assemblies, whole class PSHE teaching and special workshops, such as the 'Life Base.'

As a school, we are fortunate to have a pastoral lead who is able to offer children 1:1 or group support as needed.
